By the time you get to the end of a semester, or dissertation, you’ve read and written a lot of words. The final ninety words of my dissertation (35,062 in total…who’s counting, right?) struck me as a simple reminder for all who seek to lead others in following Jesus.
“From the city where this project began to the corners of the United States and every where in between, it is clear to me God is inviting followers of Jesus to alert people to the reign of God through words and action. A missional approach to discipleship reminds us the gospel story unfolds in multiple contexts. The missional mandate remains. The way we live into the missio Dei is by living as disciples every day.”
As I drop two copies of my dissertation in US Mail and send the final paperwork to graduate via e-mail, I still have one question: How will you alert people to the reign of God in words and action today?
Whatever you do, may you live as a disciple of Jesus today and every day!
Sara, Congratulations! You are finishing a process I have just started. Let me know when you get back to Cincinnati – it would be great to see you! Beth V.
Thanks, Beth!
