“Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”

Why Hire a Coach?

In today’s uncertain and complex environment, who is helping you be a courageous leader? If you find yourself frustrated with a stagnated team or the realization you want to learn the how to create a courageous, strengths-based culture, I’m here to help.

I believe every leader needs a coach. Coaches partner with clients.

The partnership can be thought of like a great passenger on an amazing car ride. As the client, your in the driver’s seat. As the coach, I accompany you on your journey. I ask coach thought-provoking questions to help you get to your desired goal, outcome, or result.

As a coach, I believe that every client is creative, resourceful and whole.

Coaching is a process that helps you expand your possibilities, clarify your decisions, and create plans for accountability. As you unlock your potential you also improve your capacity to lead with clarity, purpose, and courage.

What do I bring as a Coach?

I bring to the conversation over 20 years of leadership, a long journey of deepening self-awareness, a passion for strengths-based leadership, and the reality that rumbling with vulnerability is the foundation of courageous leadership. All of that means, I too, am a work in progress. Explore the “About Me” section of this website to learn more about my credentials.

Here’s what coaching is not:

Coaching isn’t about me downloading information to you or telling you how I’ve accomplished a similar task. Sure, I have life experiences, skills, and knowledge to share. But, when I share it, I’ll ask you first.

Leadership Coaching, at its core, is about helping you using the skills, resources, abilities, and experiences you have to continue growing as a leader.

I come ready to ask great questions and help you take a step toward achieving your goals.

What Topics are Covered in Coaching?

You decide. As a leader, the challenges and opportunities you face are endless. Bring what you’re facing to our scheduled time together with a question or goal in mind. It may shift, but it will get us started.

Here are a few of the topics that have emerged in coaching previous clients. Please note: these are meant for illustrative purposes, not to limit what you bring to the coaching session.

  • Supervisory or team conflicts
  • Time management
  • Deepening understanding and application of CliftonStrengths
  • A decision you’re facing
  • Planning to launch a new initiative
  • New leadership responsibilities

Almost all of my clients have or desire to take the CliftonStrenghts Assessment. As a result, my coaching is also guided by helping you leverage your strengths in life and leadership.

If you’re new to the strengths movement, let’s begin with a CliftonStrengths feedback session where you have the opportunity to learn more about your dominant talents and ask questions about using your talents effectively. Schedule a discovery call using the calendar on this page.

What should you expect?

Expect to meet via telephone or video conference call. Coaching can happen as an individual or as a part of a group. Most sessions are 50 – 60 minutes.

We’ll begin with a 20-30 minute discovery call. When you’re ready to move forward, we’ll develop a coaching contract. Three to six sessions is a great starting point.

Coaching can range from $125 – $500/hour fee. My current fee for individual coaching is $175/ 50-minute session. A discount is offered to non-profit leaders, including pastors. Please contact me for team coaching as the purpose and needs of the group determine the cost.

What are a Professional Coach’s Responsibilities?

Every coach has the responsibility to:

  • Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve
  • Encourage client self-discovery
  • Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
  • Hold the client responsible and accountable

What is my coaching style?

I was trained in the co-active coaching method. What does that mean? It means I believe you already have everything you need. You are creative, resourceful, and whole. I’m here to partner with you to achieve your desired results as a leader.

As a coach, I have the privilege of asking you thought-provoking questions, challenging you to be amazing, and helping point out blindspots and possibilities to accomplish your desired outcome.

Each coaching session begins with setting the agenda. You’ll answer the question, “What is it you want to work on in our time together?” Each session ends with you identifying your next step. Here are a few examples that have emerged from previous clients:

  • practice using a specific skill or talent
  • reflecting, journaling, and/or charting specific behaviors associated with your leadership
  • taking the next step in offering feedback
  • exploring new learning with a colleague
  • resting and/or recreation
  • reading the next chapter in a book
  • applying and testing your insights with a specific group
