Blue Signs in a Purple World

Regardless of which blue sign you favor in the upcoming election, the freedom we have in America is truly amazing.  Today I found myself standing in the midst of a crowd participating in the process.  Although the church I serve will never know which blue sign I favor in this presidential election, we can’t escape politics. I can’t escape politics.  It is a part of who we are and what we do as people.  There is power.  There is influence.  There are people and so there is politics.  As I looked down in front of me a young boy, his older sister and parents stood in front of me.  Dad didn’t want his children to miss this.  I could tell the pride and anticipation that filled their family.  One day his son would vote.  His daughter, too.  I don’t know their story.  I do know it was an experience they will not soon forget.  Neither will I.

Last week I attended a conference entitled Change the World.  I was reminded by modern day prophets (and faithful irritants like me) the world is waiting for us to respond.  Today is a day to change the world.  Tuesday is a day to Change the World.

Look around. We aren’t really red states or blues states.  At the core of our being, we are much closer to purple.  (If you’re missing the point…Your box of crayons may help you understand what I mean.  Red?  Blue? Mix ’em together)  Purple:  the color that changes the world.
