Adaptability®

People exceptionally talented in the Adaptability theme prefer to go with the flow. They tend to be “now” people who take things as they come and discover the future one day at a time.

How can I build H.O.P.E.?

Hospitality

  • Use your “here and now” approach to be present to people wherever you are at the moment. These chance encounters create a place for you to meet new people.
  • You are a pinch hitter and will help where needed at a moments notice.
  • You can react immediately to a surprise need, opportunity, and/or challenge. This can create openings for new people to feel welcome; if you also have Empathy and/or Developer, you may want to intentionally seek opportunities to mentor people exploring and/or questioning faith.

Offer Christ

  • Your commitment will come in a moment. It will be sincere. One moment. One baptism.
  • Sticking with a commitment for a long period of time will likely come from partnering with someone or being intentional about leveraging your other dominant talents.
  • You may spontaneously invite someone to join you for an event
  • When you feel the Spirit move, respond. Make a commitment, however, God leads you.

Practice

  • Find a calendar to experiment with different growth opportunities.
  • Embrace the challenge to find the best time to care for these growth opportunities.
  • You will likely appreciate surprise messages sharing a Scripture, quote, prayer, etc.
  • Participate in a variety of class learning times, topics, and teachers. You may be a great on-line learner who uses your other talents to explore independent learning.
  • Be a wandering disciple: identify new opportunities each week to share your faith with others
  • Partner with someone with Discipline who will be diligent about asking you about where you experience the presence of God at random times.

Engage

  • Participate in short-term missions. The chaos of serving in a new place may energize you. Your ability to quickly shift plans when unexpected circumstances arise will bring calm to a team and peace to a ministry leader.
  • Participate in different serving opportunities. Put your name on the “pinch hit” list for different ministries. You will embrace the last minute call to participate.
  • Partner with people strong in Focus, Strategic, and/or Belief to shape long-term goals.
