Restorative

People exceptionally talented in the Restorative theme are adept at dealing with problems. They are good at figuring out what is wrong and resolving it.

How can I build H.O.P.E.?

Hospitality

– Take your ability to creatively solve problems and focus your talent on reaching our and receiving people who do not have a relationship with Jesus and/or the church.

– Help other people identify ways they can connect with new people.

– “I can’t” will not get in your way.

– Help others remove obstacles that are holding them and/or your team back from meeting and welcoming new people.

Offer Christ

– Baptism is likely a moment of true, deep celebration for you. The cleansing, life-giving sacrament of baptism is a way, the way, to find restoration, healing, and hope.

– Help others see, claim, and commit to the power of the baptismal waters.

– When someone makes a mistake or messes up, help them find the power of grace and accountability to receive and offer forgiveness. Then, help them move forward.

Practice

– Help people practice forgiveness, reconciliation, and hope.

– Your ability to “fix things” may make you hard on yourself. Give yourself a break when it comes to faith development. God doesn’t expect you to be perfect, just going on to perfection.

– When you’re with a small group, recognize not every person or situation is a problem to be solved – by you.

– Work to develop opportunities for people to learn to solve their own challenges. Mentor and lead others to help them grow as followers of Jesus.

– Offer to lead a team in examining the focus of Sunday School classes, small group meetings, women’s ministry, and/or men’s ministry. Evaluate and focus on needed improvements. Partner with others to celebrate what is currently happening as you transition to something new.

Engage

– You may be an excellent sponsor, coach, and/or mentor for someone in recovery, transitional housing, foster care, etc. Recognize these opportunities come with guidelines that may inhibit your desire to restore a relationship, situation, or person.

– Your power and gift in serving can come from naming the problem and offering the solution.

– Your greatest paycheck comes from solving problems. Serve in a capacity where this talent is utilized in serving with others.

– You may find joy serving on a hot-line, in a consulting role, and/or help in ways that guide others toward restoration and resolution.
