Learner
People exceptionally talented in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. The process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them.
How can I build H.O.P.E.?
Hospitality
– Approach meeting new people as an opportunity to learn. Every opportunity to meet a new person, every new opportunity to welcome someone into the body of Christ, is an opportunity for you to experience the process of learning.
– Explore the origins of hospitality in Scripture. Your understanding of why reaching out and receiving new people is foundational to faith can help you embody this practice.
– Use your Learner talent in combination with another talent to focus on people. Learn their story, their interests, their talents, and what name they prefer to be called.
– Everyone wants to be known. Your natural joy of discovering something new about a person could offer you a boost.
Offer Christ
– You may make a great mentor for someone new to the faith, helping them understand the meaning of baptism and/or basics of faith.
– The process of learning about a person and helping them learn about Jesus may excite you.
– Are you an avid reader? If so, find books and resources that are great for new Jesus followers.
– Stay on the cutting edge of what is new, fresh, challenging and informative for people of faith, especially new Jesus followers.
– Ask what commitment(s) can be drawn from what you are learning. It will help you focus.
Practice
– You’ll likely enjoy the process of learning about faith. Look for opportunities to consistently focus on growing as a follower of Jesus.
– Read books about different forms of prayer, the history of worship, spiritual gifts, and/or general Christianity.
– You may enjoy teaching what you are learning to others. What new ideas, concepts, “a-ha’s” would you like to share?
– Partner with someone high in Focus, Consistency, and/or Intellection to experiment with spiritual disciplines. They’ll help you focus so you can enjoy the process of learning.
Engage
– Serving with others can be a playground of learning for you. Take time to reflect on what you experience and what God is doing in your life as a result of serving with others.
– Use your Learner talent to claim the courage to venture into something new.
– You may find serving to be a variety in your “spiritual life curriculum” that keeps things fresh and new.
