Discipline

People exceptionally talented in the Discipline theme enjoy routine and structure. Their world is best described by the order they create.

How can I build H.O.P.E.?

Hospitality

  • Serve as part of an organizing team to develop a systematic approach to reaching new people.
  • Use your Discipline talent to help identify an understandable, specific, short-term steps to welcome new people. This can help you reach more people in the long-term.
  • Use your talent to identify a process to welcome others. Make it easy for others to implement.

Offer Christ

  • Use your abilities to bring order and structure to identify next steps for new believers, people exploring the faith, and those just starting again.
  • Embrace the baptism liturgy as a routine way to remind people of their faith commitment.
  • Put processes in place to follow-up with people who make commitments or are in transition. This can encourage their commitments to Christ. For example, follow-up with people who make faith commitments, first-time visitors, people experiencing life transitions, and personal milestones.

Practice

  • You may appreciate liturgical forms of worship. Wherever you worship, you are thankful Sunday comes every 7 days to bring routine to your faith.
  • Participate in establishing an annual “campaign” for your congregation that helps people engage in Bible reading, reflection, and prayer.
  • Identify and claim your preferred routine for spiritual growth. Putting structure to your routine will help you achieve your goals.
  • Develop and write down your plan to achieve your spiritual development goals. You’ll find joy in following through on the plan you develop.

Engage

  • Help local ministries identify processes for intake, communication and/or orienting volunteers.  Or, develop a social media strategy, office procedures, or process for identifying grant possibilities.
  • Serve with ministries that need assistance bringing order from chaos. Perhaps you’ll help sort clothing, food, or furniture donations. Or maybe you’ll work with people who feel like their life is in pieces. Your ability to develop structure may come as a relief for others without this talent. Be certain to help them claim the process you develop as their own.
  • Put together a missions team agenda. Help a team have a specific daily rhythm of reading Scripture, serving together in the mission field, and celebrating your God sightings at the end of the day.
