Responsibility
People exceptionally talented in the Responsibility theme take psychological ownership of what they say they will do. They are committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty.
How can I build H.O.P.E.?
Hospitality
– Your dependable nature can become a familiar face at the front doors. New people need to see someone with consistent presence.
– Before saying yes to any invitation you’ll likely check your calendar and other appointments. Make this a practice so you can follow through on what you say you’ll do.
– If you’re taking on a welcoming task, make sure to let go of something else. You may have a hard time doing so. Utilize your other talents to make it happen.
– Learning to let go will create space for new people you meet.
Offer Christ
– Commitments are fuel, genius, and joy to you. You likely take your baptismal vows seriously. Just like any commitment you make as a parent, spouse, and/or friend when you say yes, you mean YES.
– Your commitment to Jesus for the first time is likely a lasting commitment.
– Help others see the responsibility they are taking for their own faith and participation in the body of Christ. Recognize commitment can look and feel different for different people.
– Model for others what you understand about the baptismal vows and how you live them out. Then, help someone else articulate and live out their faith.
Practice
– If you say you’ll pray, you will pray.
– You’ll likely be in worship every week unless you’re sick or out of town.
– You may feel honored when asked to lead a study of Scripture or chart a new path in worship, serve with children, teens or adults. Each of these avenues will fuel your Responsibility talent.
– As you discern specific areas of interest, you’ll also find satisfaction in doing what you say you’ll do.
– Remember to decide what you’ll stop doing if you take something new on. You may need to create a list of what you are not going to do.
Engage
– Gauge and learn your own limits of serving with others. Identify a group, cause or passion of yours to focus your energy. You may find joy in sharing with others what you experience.
– Your genius of dedication and ownership can be a blessing and help to others.
– Whatever you decide to do in service with others, you’ll do it and do it right.
– Use the ownership you feel for helping others to be a source of joy in your life.
