Consistency
People exceptionally talented in the Consistency theme are keenly aware of the need to treat people the same. They try to treat everyone with equality by setting up clear rules and adhering to them.
How can I build H.O.P.E.?
Hospitality
- Identify the pattern or structure in your life that helps you meet and welcome new people.
- Put repeatable practices in place that help you meet, welcome, and follow-up with new people. This can help people know what to expect.
- Your talent can help bring balance to large group situations by articulating expectations/rules.
Offer Christ
- Outline and help communicate the guidelines for receiving the sacrament of baptism.
- Read, research, and understand the theology behind baptism.
- Help teach the importance of baptism in your local church.
- Ask and help others articulate the expectations of Jesus followers in your faith community.
Practice
- Identify a pattern of faith development that is meaningful for you. A daily pattern may be: in the morning, read scripture; during the day, serve others; in the evening, celebrate where you witness Jesus. SOAPY is another way to read scripture. Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer, Yielding.
- What is your “rule” or pattern of life? Remember to keep a Sabbath. Six days work. One day rest.
- Worship at the same time and same place. You may appreciate a worship service that follows a familiar liturgy every week.
Engage
- Oversee policies for serving with children and teens. Your ability to follow procedures will help students and parents know what to expect.
- You recognize the impartiality necessary to build relationships with people from a variety of financial, educational, social, and cultural contexts. Use this to share God’s love with others.
- Help the group, team, and/or ministry where you serve focus upon developing relationships with people living in poverty. Your keen eye for group dynamics will help set the stage for the group.
- Serve with the same organization on an ongoing basis. You’ll appreciate the opportunity to know the pattern and expectations from staff as well as the guests you serve.
- Advocate on behalf of persons who are treated unjustly. Use your advocacy as a way to engage in establishing fair practices for all people.
