Includer
People exceptionally talented in the Includer theme accept others. They show awareness of those who feel left out and make an effort to include them.
How can I build H.O.P.E.?
Hospitality
– You have a natural ability identify people who may be left out. Welcome new people to a group or into the body of Christ.
– Direct your natural awareness of others toward recognizing people who may find themselves on the fringe. Notice them and invite them in.
– You find, see, and believe that fundamentally people are people. It’s our “sameness” that makes us important to each other.
– Help people make connections with your natural ability to nurture respect. It’s a gift. Don’t assume everyone can do it.
Offer Christ
– Reflect and share ways to help people make their first faith commitment.
– Use your keen sense of people on the fringe to help other people start relationships with followers of Jesus, the church, and Jesus.
-Your attempt to include others can lead to rejection. Dust off your feet and keep moving.
– Because you know the best way to become a part of something is to get involved, you see ways to move people from curious to committed to contagious Christian.
Practice
– Explore Scripture passages that demonstrate God’s welcome to the stranger, the oppressed, the poor. These verses and stories can help direct your understanding and action.
– Find worship experiences that invite a multi-ethnic group of people together. You will likely be energized and grow with a diverse group of people
– Your ability to link the Judea-Christian community together from the Hebrew Scriptures to the Gospels to New Testament letters can challenge you to understand what unites us.
Engage
– Use your talents to serve with people who find themselves on the margins socially, spiritually, financially, ethnically. Your heart for including people will be a welcome gift to anyone who feels “left out.”
– You may consider serving with refugees to help them experience God’s embracing love.
– Identify a cause for Christ that stirs your heart and calls you to action. Then, utilize your Includer talent to be a person of peace and welcome for others.
