Connectedness®
People exceptionally talented in the Connectedness theme have faith in the links among all things. They believe there are few coincidences and that almost every event has meaning.
How can I build H.O.P.E.?
Hospitality
- Your ability to see the links among all things can create openings for meeting new people.
- You naturally see how reaching out and receiving new people connects with making faith commitments, growth, and service, therefore, you can be a champion for H.O.P.E.
- You can be accepting of others. Use this attitude and outlook to create space for someone in your neighborhood, work-group, and/or life to build a relationship with you.
Offer Christ
- Use your bridge-building ability to connect someone to a relationship with Jesus.
- The mystery of faith expressed in baptism is accompanied by a truth – the promise of new life in Jesus. Your ability to hold mystery in connection with the faithful promises of God can create openings for people to respond to God’s love.
- The baptismal liturgy reminds us that we die with Christ and rise to new life. This may be something that helps you make sense of the world and invite others into faith in Jesus.
Practice
- Explore the connections between past, present, and future to integrate the Biblical arc (Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration) with your faith story.
- As you read and reflect on Scripture, respond by name the hope Jesus offers in Scripture
- Serve as a part of your leadership dream team – connecting what is currently happening to who God is inviting you to become.
- Clarify your purpose and live by the values you hold to be true. Be reminded others may have different values – something you probably already sense.
Engage
- As you serve with a group, share your ability to connect seemingly disparate interactions to why you are serving. Your sense of stability can serve those in the midst of chaos and confusion.
- Be aware of shallow promises and empty phrases that seem to promise something only God can provide.
- Paint a picture with images and stories that connects “the least of these” to God’s story.
- What issues tug at your heart and are important to you? A connection to the source of your joy and pain can help people build deeper relationships with Jesus.
