Competition®
People exceptionally talented in the Competition theme measure their progress against the performance of others. They strive to win first place and revel in contests.
How can I build H.O.P.E.?
Hospitality
- Set goals to set the pace for meeting new people.
- Challenge yourself to be your best for others; set performance measures.
- You may enjoy the thrill of new people evaluating a ministry you lead (e.g., rating “excellent” on a follow-up survey regarding a first-time guest visit to the Guest Center).
- You’ll likely seek feedback from people about your team and personal performance.
- Your aspiration to “win souls” may appear different in different contexts. Knowing your context will help you determine the best way to meet new people.
- Identify a contest that will give you the opportunity to engage with the most people
Offer Christ
- You can challenge others to lead people to the greatest “win” you know – making a commitment to Christ.
- Baptism is likely a big deal to you because it demonstrates the greatest win in faith – new believers publicly proclaiming their faith in Christ.
- Create “fun” competitions to challenge the commitment of some-timers and even mature believers. Be and/or become known for celebrating faith commitments.
Practice
- What is your measure of growth? How can we measure success in faith development? Your high standards can contribute to excellence in worship and faith development.
- You may be a competent fund-raiser because you love the competition of the most money coming in. For you to feel good, you’ll have to win.
- You need others to compete and compare. Participate in learning drills, fundraising competitions, and/or percentage growth in worship.
- Mentor children and/or youth, seeking to draw out the best in others.
- How can you help others achieve more through creating comparisons?
Engage
- Challenge others to serve.
- Invite donors to compete for a cause.
- Challenge others to a donation of time or money for a purpose or cause you believe in.
- Compete in a race, tour, drive, on behalf of a ministry.
- Turn ordinary serving opportunities into a competitive game.
