Belief®

People exceptionally talented in the Belief theme have certain core values that are unchanging. Out of these values emerges a defined purpose for their lives.

How can I build H.O.P.E.?

Hospitality

  • You know why you believe in Jesus. You also are confident about the substance of your faith. Connect your beliefs to actions. Specifically, seek to share why you believe with new people.
  • Allow your values to guide you in being an ambassador for Christ and your local faith community.
  • Utilize your understanding of your life purpose to build a network of people curious, cautious, connected, and/or committed to Christ. Your clarity may help put others at ease.
  • From your clarity of purpose, invite new people into the body of Christ.
  • Share stories from spiritual mentors with others.

Offer Christ

  • You may find great joy in sharing your faith with others because of your clarity and purpose for life. You may also wonder why other people don’t naturally offer Christ. Use your other talent themes to help create space for others to come alongside you as you share your faith.
  • Giving voice to your values can help others know who you are.  At the same time, remember not everyone may agree with your values, ideals, and life purpose. Your grace-filled invitation may be received better if you do not assume belief. Instead, create space for exploration and then commitment.Help others clarify their faith commitments at confirmation, baptism, tithing, and/or serving in missions.

Practice

  • Explore Scripture with people who share your values. When you come to a place where your interpretation differs, ask yourself, “What value is being stretched?”
  • You may appreciate worshiping with people who celebrate the sacraments frequently.
  • Work with ministry teams within the church to share formative experiences. Stewardship, missions, children, youth, adults, and seniors may all have needs that resonate with your values.

Engage

  • What has serving with others taught you about what you value?
  • Serve with an organization or people group that align with your core values. The clarity you bring to what you value will make it easy for you to determine where and how you can serve.
  • You may naturally focus on serving others. Don’t lose sight of your own well-being in the process.
